I am always interested in purchasing collections of North British Railway negatives from pre-grouping through to the final days of British Railways

NBR / LNER D34 62467 Glenfinnan at Inverurie (1960).
End of the line in every sense of the word! With a 62A shedplate, Glenfinnan spent all of her days at Thornton Junction but was finally withdrawn on 31st Auguust 1960. Within three months she was disposed of and apparently cut up at Cowlairs Works by the end of the year. However, this photogaph may suggest otherwise as although the 12T toolvan in the background clearly has a painted 'nameplate' attached to the door, it does not belong to this locomotive. Whilst the nameplate can not be formally identified, it clearly belongs to either Glen Mamie (62482) or Glen Mallie (62497) - both of which were cut up at Inverurie! The inscription 'KEEP SMOKEBOX DOOR' is most intriguing!
